EDIS - Every Day is Saturday !

I was talking to someone over the weekend and he introduced me to a new acronym - EDIS [Every Day is Saturday]. It's very true when you're working on your own projects - Everyday us as much a Saturday as it is a Monday :) What would you do if every day was indeed Saturday for you?

Today is a beautiful day outside in San Francisco, but yet I am at home working in my home office pictured below. I finally got to using my TV as my second monitor to watch logs of the apps I'm building. I love the multi-purpose TV/Monitor/Internet Device (yes I can tweet or facebook directly from my TV with the remote control as keyboard :))

javascript, ruby, rails etc..

How time flies fast ! It's already July and I have already been at my new job for 3 weeks now.. seem like I have been here for much much longer though. I joined in the middle of a project that's about to be released and am trying to tag along the project and do what I can to fix bugs. I have been learning a whole bunch of Javascript and Ruby and Rails trying to fix bugs. Javascript is not as bad as I thought it is -- if it's done correctly. I am fortunate that the existing javascript codebase here, had been implemented in a very nice OO fashion.

I can't say the same about Ruby though (yet).. Been trying out Rails framework and Ruby for the past few weeks and I still find it very spagethi like and not so maintainable. Either I missed something while trying to learn it or the project I am exposed to is overly complex for a beginner, I am still trying to figure out why so many people swear by RUBY !! I so miss the PHP, JAVA worlds !!! I hope that I'll eventually get to find my Holy Grail in this world of RUBY.. but for now, I just need to keep on my quest while fighting bugs and code trolls and spagheti 'mixin' monsters !
