Sunday Green Dumplings

I had a craving for dumplings today and decided to make some - usually chinese dumplings are made with ground pork meat (more fatty). Decided to use ground turkey instead though.. not too bad of a substitute. Mixed the ground meat with ground garlic and ginger, salt, chives and thyme.. then added my own special ingredient to it (non-chinese) - grated chayotte. The chayotte provides lots of moisture and mushy feeling to the dumplings. Perfect compliment in any dumpling I personally think. I steamed half of it and fried half of it.

Celebrated Thanksgiving in Mountain View today at Robin's and Joanna's place. They had the entire traditional American Thanksgiving dinner experience - Roast Turkey, Stuffing, Cranberry, Green Beans Casserole, Potatoes and Gravy, Sweet Potato Pie and Pravin made a Mauritian Gratin to go with it. Great wonderful yummy food and great company. So stuffed with food after the dinner, but I guess that's what thanksgiving dinners are like !

Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner !

Serene and Topher hosted yet another marvelous dinner party last Saturday evening with some very exotic different kind of thanksgiving food. We started off with Squash soup with ginger, then off to a Miso glazed carrots and then we had the traditional Turkey and Stuffing - but specially crafted for our international crowd.  For the stuffing we had Brioche bread with chorizo, and the Turkey was cooked in Red Thai Curry all of that on top a nicely done steamed Sticky rice with peanuts and spices. Had a great time catching up with everybody and having some delicious food.. Thanks Serene and Topher !!

Turkey Curry for dinner... a change from the common Thanksgiving Dinner :)

Photo

Thanksgiving and I am working today and did not go to any thanksgiving dinner, but in the spirit of thanksgiving decided to cook a turkey dish variation.. Turkey Curry. Turkey is pretty dry and not as flexible as chicken in cooking. Got some strips of turkey breast, fried them out with salt, pepper and thyme. After that, simmered some pearl onions, tomatoes, garlic, thyme and curry and let it simmer with to a thick sauce before adding the cooked turkey and potatoes and the result is in the pic..
