NYC halal food trucks

I love the halal food trucks around every other block in NYC. Not too healthy but great tasting fast food. This particular one had a great variety of food - briani, kathi rolls, chicken kofta and even daal over rice, with max price being $5! Awesome deal !

Brooklyn Food Flea Market - Smorgasburg !

Every Saturday in the summer time, there's a food Flea Market in Brooklyn by the East River side - Smorgasburg.

It had a varied mix of street food vendors and nice crowd relaxing by the river side eating with awesome views of Manhattan in the background.

I was wondering how the street food/local food culture differs in NYC vs SF, for research purposes. This event gave me a bit of an insight in the steet/local food culture of NY.

I had the fried anchovies with head on (they called it Jersey Style with the head on). Never had fresh anchovies before and they were a delicious bunch. Loved it !

San Francisco Street Food - Food Carts

Recently, street food/food carts have become very trendy in San Francisco. They pop up in random parts of town serving anything from thai curry, to creme brulee passing through bel puri. They all have twitter accounts and tweet the the place where they are gonna be a couple of hours or so before they show up at the secret locations with an avid crowd of followers craving for these foods. Friday evening, they had a street food event in the mission where a few of these street carts showed up. They had the magic curry cart which serves thai red or green curry, the sexy soup lady which serves of course soup, the bacon chips guy (delicious fried bacon in home made potato fries), the bel puri man and other sweet goodies carts. here are some pics from the event.

Here are some of the food carts twitter accounts in case you are interested in following them.
