My Tattoo

I had not yet taken a picture of my tattoo since I got it. Courtesy of Carla, here's a picture of it. Its a double dragon (my chinese horoscope) wound around the hand, in black and blue accents and shadows..

It was taken on the one day when Spring gave us a little peek of what's to come and had gone to the beach.. hence the sand on the arms as well..

I had it done in Mauritius at Rick Tattoo Studio (Ricardo Barbe's studio). He's a great tattooer and great person and we found out we were in the same school batch and even had common friends. small world !

Cleaning up day, packing day and departure..

Sep 30th was the last night in San Francisco before my trip back to Mauritius for a few months. It was also the day, I had to clean up my apartment and give back the keys and also pack all my stuff for my flight on the 1st. Very very busy day. The weekend before on both Saturday and Sunday, I had a couple of get togethers with different group of friends (the mauritian friends and the sf/yahoo friends) -> I'll post the pictures in a different post. So, as I did not clean up much or pack, a lot of work was yet to be done on the 30th.

Fortunately, I had the help of a friend - Nazeem who came to help me clean up the apartment. He was of tremendous help and if he did not come and help, I don't think I'd have been able to clean up, pack and leave the apartment by 8:00p.m. He did a lot - vaccumming, mopping, trash walks and helping move the things in the suv I had rented. I am grateful to have such great friends.

Apartment was looking as good as new by the time we finished. I packed up everything and went to Pravin's place in hayward to stay for that one homeless night I had. Stayed at Pravin's place.

Next day, drove up to San Francisco to enjoy it a last time for the next few months, did some errands I still had left to do and finally drove up to the airport, dropped the rental car the drop-off and checked in for my British Airways flight to London.

Reached London a couple of hours ago. Took a bus (#285) from the airport to go to Kingston where my cousin lives. As he is still at work, I found a place to chill while waiting for him - New Orleans Cajun Food Restaurant - out of all the places in the world, I had to find an american restaurant in London, but they had bland british food though.. which I had :)

I got scammed... wirelessunlocks.net

I guess you get what you pay for. I thought I was getting a deal by trying to get an unlock code for a TMobile Blackberry Pearl phone that my friend Levi gave me.

I googled "unlock codes for tmobile blackberry" and the clicked on the one of the adsense ads for a wireless unlock code for $7.99 from http://wirelessunlocks.net/.

Went on their website, they asked me to put in the phone model, imei number, carrier etc.. and I was kind of suspicious already as all the pages were html rather than any dynamic scripts. So I continued and it brought me to paypal to give them $7.99.

Then after one day, they emailed me asking for more details and the to: field was hidden. All emails were Bcced.. more doubts. I sent back information and they emailed me back to say that they cannot unlock my phone due to technical difficulties in that version of the phone and they'll refund me in 2 weeks.

Been 2 weeks and no refund == I have been scammed.

I searched the web and found that there are many such scam websites for unlocking codes.

Anyways, be careful when using cheap unlocking codes from the web and definitely - http://wirelessunlocks.net/ (wirelessunlocks) is a scam website.

French Baked Goodies

I came back home on Monday evening and Lucy, my new housemate had a gift for me -  platter of french baked pastries and other sweet goodies.

The night before, she had some guests and aparently one of them got drunk and was causing a mess and making lots of noise at 3:00a.m, while I was sleeping and that woke me up as well as our neighbor. She felt bad about that and gave me the pastries to make peace :)

photo booth snaps... embarassment central..

Last week, went to the yahoo fireeagle launch party. They had a free photo-booth and excited was I to go try it.. but the catch was (and I did not know) was that whatever you did in the photo booth was being broadcast outside publicly on the big tv.

I made all kind of faces while in there and I felt so embarassed when i came out and saw the damn thing was replaying everything I did inside.. it replayed it a couple of times for the enjoyment of others to to my embarassment and here is the snap for your viewing pleasure..
