My last night in NYC.. View of Manhattan Skyline from Brooklyn Waterfront

Already my last nite in NYC. One of the things that I had not done during these past few weeks was to cross over the brooklyn bridge and see the Manhattan Skyline from that perspective. Took the subway to that side today and admired the beautiful skylike at dusk when all the buildings started to light up their lights and walked back the bridge to Manhattan. One of the most spectacular skylines ever !

EDIS - Every Day is Saturday !

I was talking to someone over the weekend and he introduced me to a new acronym - EDIS [Every Day is Saturday]. It's very true when you're working on your own projects - Everyday us as much a Saturday as it is a Monday :) What would you do if every day was indeed Saturday for you?

Today is a beautiful day outside in San Francisco, but yet I am at home working in my home office pictured below. I finally got to using my TV as my second monitor to watch logs of the apps I'm building. I love the multi-purpose TV/Monitor/Internet Device (yes I can tweet or facebook directly from my TV with the remote control as keyboard :))

If I was a Zebra.... Playing with Sun and Shadows

Photo_on_2011-02-01_at_13

The closed shutters, and rays of sun passing through the in betweens, made for a very nice natural zebra make up on me :) I guess if i was zebra, that's how my skin would probably look like..

Is there something like too much powder??

The weekend was perfect summer-like skiing conditions, but this early morning, we had a mega big storm and when I got up, there was like 5-6 inches of snow on the ground. Was lucky, I am staying only a few blocks from the Nevada stagecoach heavenly lift (only lift that's open.. koz too much strong winds). Went up for a couple of hours of skiing in the morning (glad I got the pass for these short time runs). While powder is nice, I think as everything too much of it ain't that fun.. it was snowing the entire time i was up on the slopes and visibility was very minimal. Did a couple of runs in the morning and came back to finish up some work.

A Tanner Browner me...

Even brown people can get browner with the extreme sun (when it's not raining) on the Carribean coast of Costa Rica. This is me, even though I had sun cream SPF 50...

Backpack and Bellypack...

I chanched a look at myself in an elevator mirror this past week and this is how I have been travelling for these past few months.. one big 75L backpack on my back and another smaller backpack with my documents and laptop etc.. in front (I guess that's not a "back"pack anymore.. more of a belly pack :)

I remember having bought that 75L "North Face" brand backpack in Saigon Vietnam for about $22... Even though it's not the real thing, the bag has beared lots of wear and tear, but still holding very strong and travelling the world with me.. The front bag is my one souvenir from Yahoo. it's the Yahoo backpack, every one gets when they first join Yahoo!...

My Halloween 2009 costume - Horn-y Red Devil !

Red_devil

Had a dinner and haloween party to go to, that night. 1:00p.m and I did not yet know what to wear. Decided to go haight st and I saw a nice pair of horns that Thought being a 'horn-y' devil might be a good idea. So, bought some red face paint as well with the horns. Horns - $7, red cream face paint - $0.99 - good costume - priceless :)

Asian Massive - featuring Karsh Kale, Cheb I Sabbah, Medeival Punditz and (My Broken Glasses)

Last night, I went to the Asian Massive party at 1015 Folsom. A few of my friends were also there - Pravin, Bhavik, Carla, Nandi, Levi (Funny that Levi and I wore the exact same shirt  !!) and Viren. It was pretty good music and crowd. One little incident though - on the dance floor, somebody in front of me was dancing so furiously, that he bumped into my face with his shoulders and broke my specs (see in the pics). So, for half of the night, everything was kind of blurry for me.. but that added to the psychedelic effect :)

Friday night dinner with Bhavik and Pravin at Lahore Karahi

Pravin and Bhavik, two other Mauritian friends in the bay area came to the city yesterday night to go to the Asian Massive concert. We met at my place and decided to have an Indian dinner. My favorite Indian place in the city is in the tenderloin - Lahore Karahi (http://www.yelp.com/biz/lahore-karahi-san-francisco)  at the corner of Jones and O'Farrell. Unlike the other similar style Indian places in the city, Lahore Karahi cooks everything from scratch rather than stock sauces and stock meats mixed together + also it is BYOB without a corkage fee. We ordered
  • Tandoori Fish
  • Aloo Ghobi (potatoes and Califlower)
  • Chicken Karahi
  • Dal Massala
  • Naan
