Moonlighting as a scooter mechanic

Dis-assembling is always easy :) I hope I can assemble it all back !

After I disassembled the muffler and all, realized I am missing one tool to remove the part I need to replace in the scooter !!

My new Orchid

Img_3027

I went to the CNY Chinatown Flower festival on Sunday and got this new orchid plant from there. It is customary for the Chinese to decorate their homes with bright-coloured plants for Chinese New Year, a tradition which symbolises rebirth, growth, happiness, good fortune and prosperity, among others. The Orchid represents love, luxury, beauty, strength and refinement, virility and long life. Hopefully this year of the Rabbit will have a lot of these things in store for me :)

Happy Chinese New Year to all !!

'Mignonne, allons voir si la rose' by Ronsard

I was chatting with a friend today and I remembered this beautiful poem - 'Mignonne, allons voir si la rose' by the famous french poet - Ronsard. I had studied that poem in French Literature class in high school. It's about plucking life while life is still abundant and young - the main theme of the poem is Carpe Diem and somehow I just remembered it today and wanted to share it back :)

A Cassandre

Mignonne, allons voir si la rose
Qui ce matin avoit desclose
Sa robe de pourpre au Soleil,
A point perdu ceste vesprée
Les plis de sa robe pourprée,
Et son teint au vostre pareil.

Las ! voyez comme en peu d'espace,
Mignonne, elle a dessus la place
Las ! las ses beautez laissé cheoir !
Ô vrayment marastre Nature,
Puis qu'une telle fleur ne dure
Que du matin jusques au soir !

Donc, si vous me croyez, mignonne,
Tandis que vostre âge fleuronne
En sa plus verte nouveauté,
Cueillez, cueillez vostre jeunesse :
Comme à ceste fleur la vieillesse
Fera ternir vostre beauté.

Translated in English, but somewhow it does not seem as nice as the french version and convey the same feelings :) (I copied from this site -- http://www.recmusic.org/lieder/get_text.html?TextId=13861)

Sweetheart, let us see if the rose
that only this morning unfolded
its scarlet dress in the sun
has lost, at vesper-time,
the folds of its scarlet dress
and its colour, so like yours.

Alas! See how rapidly,
Sweetheart, she has let
her beauty fall all over the place!
Nature is truly a cruel stepmother
when such a flower only lasts
from dawn to dusk!

So if you hear me, Sweetheart,
while your age flowers
in its greenest newness,
gather, gather your youth.
Age will tarnish your beauty
as it has faded this flower.
