"Halloween - a redundant holiday in San Francisco"

"Halloween is a redundant holiday in San Francisco!" -- Robin Williams on the Tonight show - i read this quote on a friend's status on facebook yesterday and I could not agree more !! Any given day in SF all year long and all the numerous events, you'll find the all the quirky dresses, costumes - well.. not costumes for some.. it's just their style :) Great to be living in a city which celebrates halloween all year long.

Weather was perfect today and Sapna invited me to this after-after flash mob party at Toxic Beach (did not even know we had that beach in SF - it's surrounded by two manufacturing companies - hence the toxic part). Some DJS, burners and random people just gathered up at the Toxic Beach, had generators, Speakers, DJs and we just enjoyed the great weather in our regular costumes.. looks like any other given Sunday in SF :) This year again, i went the easy away and just painted my face red and had the horns - I was a Horn-y red devil :)

San Francisco Critical Mass, October 2010 Edition

As every last Friday of the month, it's critical mass in San Francisco, but the October one is always more special than other Critical masses due to Halloween and costumed Riders. There were lots of superheros in attendance. San Francisco batman is green as ever with his feet powered bat mobile :)

Dia de Los Muertes - Day of the dead

"Don't just cry mournfully over the individuals, dreams and influences that have helped make you what you are. Dance for them; sing for them; honor them; leap into the air and kiss the sky for them."

"Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Meso-American holiday dedicated to the ancestors; it honors both death and the cycle of life. In Mexico, neighbors gather in local cemeteries to share food, music, and fun with their extended community, both living and departed. The celebration acknowledges that we still have a relationship with our ancestors and loved ones that have passed away.

In San Francisco, Day of the Dead has been celebrated since the early 70s with art, music, performances and a walking procession, which help us contemplate our existence and mortality -- a moment to remember deceased friends and family, and our connections beyond our immediate concerns."

excerpts from http://www.dayofthedeadsf.org/

I had missed this event for the past two years and finally manage to go this year and it was awesome. Here are some pics from it.

Red_devil

Had a dinner and haloween party to go to, that night. 1:00p.m and I did not yet know what to wear. Decided to go haight st and I saw a nice pair of horns that Thought being a 'horn-y' devil might be a good idea. So, bought some red face paint as well with the horns. Horns - $7, red cream face paint - $0.99 - good costume - priceless :)
