Burning Man 2009 (part 4)

This is my fourth and last series of pictures from Burning Man 2009.

In the last 3 pictures, you can see the extremely packed van that Kimo had packed with a lot of patience and effort (Van was packed the the max with all our gear and bicycles and Kimo had come to the city from Dublin to pick our stuff the day before and packed it all on his own so that we could leave promptly on Tuesday afternoon). In the next picture, you can see where I stayed. I stayed in the little yellow tent and next to it, we had the shade structure that Tony and Therese had graciously welcomed me to. The shade structure was a parachute that was set on top of PVC pipes. Tony and Therese had it set up like a home away from home. Under the shade structure, we had carpets, couches, coffee tables, decorations, plants. It was a really nice setup. We spent most of the hottest times of the day in there. Then the last picture is a picture of Phoenix, Kimo, Me, David and Melanie - with whom i came.

Short Stay in London.. meeting with friends and family..

On my way to Mauritius,I stopped in London for a few days to meet up with friends and family. I stayed at my cousin Irwin's place in Kingston. Him and his wife Cheryl took very good care of me and wined and dined me very well while I was there. First day, we had a nice roast with roast veggies, gravy and Yorkshire pudding cooked by Cheryl followed by some nice Massaman Thai Curry cooked the next day by Irwin.

Second day day had lunch at Irwin's parent house and had a typical mauritian dish - Rougaille, Giraumon, Gros Pois dans Massala,Kutcha and Puri. Was so great to have some good mauritian food after a while before coming back to Mauritius - a good transition period :)

While in London I also met up with my neighbor deepti, with my cousin Ravesh, sister in law Nirma, cousin Kevin and family and friend Smeeta. Assorted pics attached.

Good Bye Lunch with Yahoo/SF friends

Last Saturday I had  the good bye party with some of the non-sf friends over for dinner and could not accommodate the SF/yahoo/other friends as well at the same party.

So, on Sunday, had a good bye lunch with them at Lee Hou Restaurant in the Richmond. Lee Hou, as from previous posts has become my most favorite chinese restaurant in town.

Had booked a table for 10 and we had tons and tons of food. We started off with various dim sum plates and finished off by a crab dish, a roast duck dish, chicken curry and other things I can't even remember.

It was great to meet up with all my friends before I left.

Good Bye Dinner and Scavenging party !

The Saturday before I left, I invited a few friends over to my place for dinner and scavenging.. yes scavenging

I decided to give away most of my stuff in donation  before I leave. They'd all have gone to goodwill.

So, I thought I'd give my friends a pick first before boxing them up for goodwill or salvation army. At the same time, decided to cook up all that was in my fridge before I head off. I called a few of the Mauritian friends over.

My old housemates from Oxford, Mississippi who now live in California as well - Ken and Amalee were visiting SF and I invited them to join as well.

I had started the dinner with dim-sum - vegetables dumplings and mini veggie chinese breads and some brasilian cheesebread (pao de quejos), then I had a dhall (split pea) indian soup and main entree was chicken lo mein (made with fresh pancit noodles) and we finished off by a chocolate cake, Priscille and Dennis brought from Cheesecake Factory. We also had tons of wine. Finished off all the wines and drinks I had on my shelf too ;)

That was the last party at my SF apartment before I clean up and give it back. I'll miss 1949 Chestnut Street :)

Serene and Topher's housewarming party..

Serene and Tofer moved into a new house in sunnyvale and they had their housewarming party last weekend. Below are some snaps from the 'Cocoa Casa' housewarming party.

I was impressed by the doors - Topher has installed a biometric device to scan your fingerprints to open/close the door.

We had a game where we all got a piece of paper to write nouns ,verbs, abjectives etc.. at the end of the night, we used these random words to fill in a love letter. It came out pretty interesting. Attached is a pic of the complete love letter.

Singaporean Food @ Lee Hou with Kuben and Lia

Kuben and Lia, two friends from university, were in San Francisco for a conference a couple of weeks ago. Took them to Lee Hou (http://www.yelp.com/biz/lee-hou-restaurant-san-francisco) on Clement Street for some good Singaporean Food. The singapore curry chicken was the best ever curry I've had !! The yelp reviews don't look so good, but I loved the food !!
