Turkey Curry for dinner... a change from the common Thanksgiving Dinner :)

Thanksgiving and I am working today and did not go to any thanksgiving dinner, but in the spirit of thanksgiving decided to cook a turkey dish variation.. Turkey Curry. Turkey is pretty dry and not as flexible as chicken in cooking. Got some strips of turkey breast, fried them out with salt, pepper and thyme. After that, simmered some pearl onions, tomatoes, garlic, thyme and curry and let it simmer with to a thick sauce before adding the cooked turkey and potatoes and the result is in the pic..

Burmese Food at Pagan Restaurant on Clement Street

Yesterday night, we had planned to do a bonfire at Ocean Beach, but Gilles went at 7:00p.m (still daylight) and told us that all the fire pits were already taken and nobody would share theirs. So we had to change plans. We (Deepti, Tamar and I) decided to eat on Clement St. We were driving by and saw the sign for Grand Opening of a new Burmese place on Clement - Pagan Restaurant. We decided to try it. It was worth it. Decor was very nice, food was very good, even though Service was not the best !  We had the Burmese Curry Chicken Noddle with Split Peas, Eggplants with dried shrimps, Fish Curry and Roti Patala and Chicken Gravy as appetizer. Here are some pics of the dishes we ordered...

Friday night dinner with Bhavik and Pravin at Lahore Karahi

Pravin and Bhavik, two other Mauritian friends in the bay area came to the city yesterday night to go to the Asian Massive concert. We met at my place and decided to have an Indian dinner. My favorite Indian place in the city is in the tenderloin - Lahore Karahi (http://www.yelp.com/biz/lahore-karahi-san-francisco)  at the corner of Jones and O'Farrell. Unlike the other similar style Indian places in the city, Lahore Karahi cooks everything from scratch rather than stock sauces and stock meats mixed together + also it is BYOB without a corkage fee. We ordered
  • Tandoori Fish
  • Aloo Ghobi (potatoes and Califlower)
  • Chicken Karahi
  • Dal Massala
  • Naan
