New York's Little India - Jackson Heights in Queens
There are many ethnic neighborhoods in New York for the different communities and groups of people living here from the so many countries. There's Chinatown[S], Little Italy, Puerto Rican Barios and African neighborhoods in Harlem, Little Russia in Brighton Beach, Curry Hill, Curry Row, Little India etc.. It's so great to have so much of these cultures concentrated here and be able to visit/experience a bit of the cultural/culinary aspects of these countries cultures without having to travel there. I visited Jackson Heights in Queens a couple of weeks ago and it's the Little India of NYC. I almost felt like I was in India :)
Funny while I was there, I was just walking about and two persons overtook me on the street and they were speaking in Maurician Creole. It's so rare to find people speaking creole in the US. I stopped them and introduced myself and told them I am from Mauritius too and when I asked him what is doing in the US - he said he's the Ambassador of Mauritus to the United Nations - Milan Meetarbhan. Funny I bumped into our ambassador out of the blues.
